Greetings from sunny Merseyside

We returned home from La Manga late on Saturday, If you haven’t been it’s a lovely place, very scenic and usually the sun is always shinning, not that we have much opportunity to appreciate this as we are too busy running!

England uses this camp to do fitness testing, train twice a day and play matches against opposing teams. I am not complaining as it is always a great experience and is useful for us to learn the most up to date training regimes, diet and football techniques. Jess, Sophie Bradley and I were selected from Lincoln so after training on Sunday we made our way down to the team hotel to get ready for our early morning flight to Alicante. The week was hard but enjoyable and we finished on Friday with a game against Holland, we drew 2-2, before you ask I didn’t score and neither did Jess however Sophie our centre half embarrassed us both by scoring England’s first goal (I did put it on a plate for her).

Training with Lincoln has also been going really well, the Thursday before we went away we had to run as far as we could for 3 minutes have 3 minutes off and repeat this 3 times, it’s a tough test (I am sure the gaffer loves watching us suffer and seeing what Mel had for her tea). Friday’s session was like taking part in the world’s strongest woman competition; there were different stations which included tyre tossing, hitting a tyre with a mallet, walking with a weight on your back and the most difficult one of all was press-ups with a heavy chain, we all loved it but couldn’t move our arms for days afterwards. So this season if we are getting beat, don’t worry we will just toss them off the pitch or hit them over the head with a mallet.

We also found out this week that we are going to Majorca on the 7th Feb for 5 days hopefully playing a match their, this is a another great opportunity to build team spirit and train twice a day. I do hope it’s sunny as when I had a blood test at England I was low in Vitamin D so for solely medical reasons a tan is needed! I have also been appointed Lincoln ladies dietician by Nic, Rach and Remi hopefully it’s so they become lean, mean fighting machines for the season, however I have a sneaky suspicion that it’s for their bikini beach body.
