Sue’s Blog
Hi guys
Just a quick update on what I have been up to over the past month or so. We have started training 3-4 times a week which has been good fun and all the girls are starting to get to know each other a little bit more; by the time the season comes around I am sure we will all be flying. With some of the old school Lincoln ladies and us newbie’s the squad has a nice balance to it.
I have also been doing some work for the club which basically entails promoting it through giving talks to various primary and secondary schools. Each school has been very different, I have done question and answer sessions, presented certificates, given talks and put the young people through their paces in coaching sessions. I have to say some of my favourite schools are the primary ones, if you are not aware I am well known for my dodgy barnets and some of the children say you’ve got spiky hair like jedward before proceeding to try and do their own hair like mine, so if you see any children aged between 5 and 15 with jedward style hair it’s my fault!!
As we all know children say exactly what they want to say and some of the questions have been hilarious, just to mention some of the best ones, after doing a twenty minute talk on my career and showing them some of my memorabilia from England a little boy put his hand up and said “Sue are you Polish?” I laughed and said “no what made you ask that?” he replied “because you’ve got a funny accent”, so next time I go into schools I will use my posh scouse accent!! Another young boy proceeded to tell me that I went to school with his dad, I said “really? Where does he come from?” He looked at me with disbelief and replied “my house!!” classic!! At another school a little girl put her hand up and said “my Aunty lives in Canada” I said, “That’s nice does she play football?” She looked at me with distain and answered, “No”!!
Despite some of the funny questions the young people have been lovely and the schools very welcoming; hopefully they will support Lincoln ladies which is the main objective of my visits.
