Cup winners showdown as Leeds host Everton
League Cup winners Leeds Carnegie Ladies host FA Cup winners Everton Ladies in their penultimate league fixture on Thursday.
A Leeds victory would virtually guarantee them at least a top-three finish; and having already reached their highest-ever points total at this level, it would make what could still be their final season their best ever.
Leeds’s tilt at the title took a knock in April, thanks to two losses against Chelsea and one against Arsenal, but gained vital points in the push for second with wins away to Blackburn and Watford in the past week.
However, they have also played two games more than Everton, and with only one more to come – against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday 12 May – Leeds might also have to rely on results elsewhere going their way.
But Leeds will be buoyed by the fact that they beat Everton 3-1 to take their first silverware back in February, as well as beating them by the same score a week later in the league.
Entry to the game costs £5 for adults, £2 for concessions and the turnstile opens at 7pm. Full audio commentary will be available through the BBC Radio Leeds web site, and live text via the club’s web site.
