Busy Bank Holiday

The progress on the turkey string is going well, I am now running at a decent pace, lifting heavier weights and I am even allowed to kick a ball which I was very excited about ( sad I know). I will be travelling to Loughborough today to have another scan so hopefully that will say it has heeled properly and I can up the intensity of my training. Unfortunately I couldn’t recover in time for the next England match in Malta but I am hoping to be in contention for the Spain game in June. I did think Hope may have taken me just so I could top up my tan!!!!!

While I have been injured it has allowed me to do lots more things at the weekend I did an appearance at Butlins with Alan Curbishley. Before you say it I wasn’t a red coat but I am surprised they didn’t ask me to join when they heard my voice of an angel. Butlins do a tournament every year where both boys and girls teams from around the country play and have the opportunity to be scouted for a professional club. There was some great talent on show and of course the young people love it because when they finish the football they have all the entertainment Butlins has to offer.

Next on the agenda was the Women’s FA cup final this year which was held at Nottingham Forests ground on bank holiday Monday.  The game was between Everton and Arsenal who are two of the best teams in the league (nearly as good as us but not quite) I was doing the pitch side commentary and thankfully it wasn’t pitch side I was actually in a studio as it was throwing it down with rain and blowing a gale at some points in the game. I have to say it was the best game of women’s football that I have seen for a good while. There were goals, skills and plenty of chances, also due to the animosity between the two sides there was plenty of yellow cards and scuffles which as a fan is always nice to see (I probably shouldn’t say that). The game finished 3-2 to Everton after extra time but it could have gone either way. It is nice to see the cups going to different teams, I am not sure if I have mentioned it but we won the league Cup final this year!!! Everton winning the FA cup and Arsenal will probably win the league. This just shows how far the game has come and how close the league has been it is just such a shame that we won’t be involved next year. I do really enjoy doing the commentary and it is something that I would like to get involved in when I hang my boots up (hopefully that’s in another 10years time)

My teamies did well at the weekend beating Watford 1-0 the game was in doubt due to a water logged pitch but thanks to the dads of Sophie Bradley, Ellen white and Sophie Walton they managed to fork and brush the excess water off the pitch so the game could go ahead. Maybe there is a new career path there for them.

Also please come and support us tonight against the FA cup winners Everton throstle nest 7:45pm KO.
