A warm-up for the Cup Final?

Good Afternoon

At last I can talk about a football match, we eventually played our FA cup game against Arsenal on Sunday. We lost the game 3-2 and I am still gutted about it today. It was a game we could have and probably should have won if we had all played to our potential. The first half was not our best performance we looked shaky and at times Arsenal run us ragged!! However we went in at halftime only 1-0 down, the Leeds of old probably would have crumbled and lost the game by a great margin but instead we come out second half fighting. We equalled the scoring after about ten minutes with a great shot from Ellen White and the game began. We started to relax and play some good football but as we know Arsenal are very experienced and come back again with a powering header from Jayne Ludlow their Welsh international. Again we fought back and Jess Clarke scored only for it to be disallowed for offside, then straight from this incident every player switched off and a long ball to Rachel Yankey left her with no one within 20 meters of her and she Cooley slotted the ball home. Again we didn’t give up and we scored from a corner Jess Clarke headed the ball in, we had ten minutes to try and score the equaliser and despite our efforts it wasn’t to be. We are all absolutely gutted as this would have been a statement to everyone how we are one of the best teams in the league and deserve to be in the super league. However as Rick pointed out we have great potential but we haven’t won anything yet (that wasn’t exactly how he said it but I am not sure the readers would want to know the exact words!!) So, now we are going to have to prove ourselves against Everton tonight we have got a great chance of silver wear and we don’t want to be second best again. Please come and support us tonight it’s at Rochdale and it’s a 7pm kick off.

Changing the subject entirely I am going to have to mention John Terry. It is crazy the amount of news coverage he has had this past week. On a personally level all I know of Terry is that he comes across as a really nice bloke and he supports women’s football , both club level for Chelsea and on the international front, he was one of the players who sent us a message when we were in the final of the Euros last year. Reading all the things that he has done in the papers is awful; however does that make him a bad captain? The only issue I would have is has he lost the respect of his fellow team mates. If he has then they are all very hypocritical considering the majority have done something wrong themselves. Rio Ferdinand the new captain isn’t he banned at the moment for elbowing someone in the face? Isn’t this the same man who was banned for 8 months for missing a drugs test? For me Terry is still the player that he was, he would still lead the boys in the world cup; he just needs to sort his personal life out. Before you say it I haven’t been one of his conquests!!!
