My day out with Clayton Blackmore
Hello Everyone,
Firstly I am going to talk of my disappointment of the weekend. We played Chelsea on Sunday and as all of our games are now it was a must win. The race for the league is between four teams ourselves, Chelsea, Everton and Arsenal. After losing to Arsenal last week we had to beat Chelsea. I am still injured so had to sit back and let the girls do it on the pitch. We are more than capable of beating all the top teams as we shown beating Everton and Chelsea in the cup. However on Sunday the girls just didn’t perform to the best of their abilities and we lost the game 2-0. As you can imagine the journey home was a quiet one and I think everyone was reflecting on what could have been. It isn’t the end for us we still have four games remaining and if we win all of those and other teams slip up we still have a chance of finishing top two and it would be nice concluding with a win at the Emirates on May 12th.
I attended a football tournament on Saturday which over 3000 boys and girls took part. I have to say there was some exceptional talent on show. I and ex Manchester United and Welsh International footballer Clayton Blackmore gave out the awards. We also had to nominate a player of the tournament. It was difficult trying to pick a player of the tournament until one of the under 14 girls struck a volley from outside the area right into the top corner (don’t worry Rick I have already signed her up) this is a difficult technique to do and I have to say she did it much better than I could of!!!
I have a busy weekend this bank holiday. Firstly I am doing an appearance at Butlins with the legendary Peter Shilton (its ok I didn’t fancy him) This again is another football tournament where teams from across the country take part in so hopefully there will be some great talent on show. On bank Holiday Monday it’s the women’s FA cup final at Nottingham Forests ground so please if you’re not busy come down and support the girls the game is between Everton and Arsenal. I will be there doing the pitch side commentary so if it is too far to travel make sure you watch it on sky sports and hopefully I won’t use to much scouse terminology (eeeeerm and you know are my favourites)
Lastly my rehab for my hamstring is going really well I am now jogging and passing ball short distances so hopefully it won’t be too much longer before I am back, I have been the worst patient ever. Just ask my mum!!!
