Surviving December’s weather
Good afternoon everyone
Firstly how crazy has this weather been? Our game was called off on Sunday which I fully expected due to the amount of snow, rain, wind and generally minus conditions. We trained on Thursday evening and it took me 5 hours to get home. This is usually a 1 hour journey but due to the amount of snow over the tops they had to shut the motorway. So I was sat in my car not moving, I was so hungry and all I had was some furry Polos that had been there for a long time (yes you guessed it I ate them all). In the future I am going to be a little better prepared just in case. If my mum had been with me we would have had blankets, sandwiches a flask and books to read. I obviously take after my dad.
It is crazy though how our country comes to a standstill when we experience severe weather conditions. When we have a heat wave we get a hose pipe ban, you struggle to walk around the shops because the heating is still on. Then on the reverse the snow has caused chaos, airports have been shut, people have had to abandon cars and generally it takes hours to travel 5 minutes down the road. I don’t know what we pay all our taxes for??? I have to say I am a big kid when it comes to snow, I am out with all of them having snowball fights and it does make it look and feel very Christmassy.
Moving on, we had our Leeds Carnegie Ladies Christmas night out on Sunday, we went for a meal first in Headingly and then went into town. Due to us all being athletes and our bodies are temples we just drunk water and behaved like ladies. There is no way the girls would have been chanting Leeds songs namely “marching on together” or “Super Leeds” and downing shots of Sambuca and definitely no way the girls would be falling into their hotel rooms at 4am in the morning. We all behaved very well and it was a quiet non messy affair gaffer…honestly!!!
Sometimes we doubt human nature and always think the worst of people. Especially in Liverpool as you all know with the jokes about scousers, if it’s not tied down it will be pinched. Well earlier on in the week I lost my purse, as you will all know if you’ve lost anything like that before you get a sick panic feeling and I tried to re-trace my steps. The last place I had it was Tesco’s in Liverpool, many people pointed out to me there is no way that will still be there. I rushed back to the shop and spoke to the security guard who said it had just been handed in I checked inside and everything was still intact all my money, cards etc. I asked if they had the person’s name so I could thank them unfortunately they didn’t. It did however restore my faith in human nature, so when you tell a joke about scousers just remember this story!!
Anyway I just want to finish by wishing everyone a very merry Christmas and a healthy and happy new year.
