Hey Guys

I’ll start off with our game on Sunday against Birmingham, it was a typical Leeds Carnegie Ladies match, lots of goals and lots of excitement. For the neutral it must be really enjoyable however for our management it must be a nightmare.! We started off really well creating chance after chance but couldn’t score, eventually we broke the deadlock with 30 minutes gone and scored another in quick succession. So going in 2-0 at halftime is pretty comfortable. We come out the second half not doing the things we did in the first an we let Birmingham back into the game and they scored and as everyone associated with football knows 2-1 is a risky score line. We did manage to score the next to make it 3-1 and again we relaxed and they scored so that made it 3-2. We did score a forth and it ended 4-2 but I have to say we made hard work of a game we should have well and truly won. I have to say a massive well done to Ellen White who grabbed a hat trick; they were 3 very well taken goals. These forwards need to let the rest of us score and stop being so greedy!!. No, really, they have both been in very good form and long may this continue.

Moving on to England men, firstly I was really disappointed at the fact it wasn’t being shown on any TV channel and for me to watch it I had to go on the Internet and pay between £5 and £15 to see the match. As you can guess I didn’t bother which I know a lot of other supporters did the same. Those that did were probably highly disappointed at the fact we were beaten 1-0 by a side we should be beating easily. Maybe I am really biased and talking out of turn but I can’t believe Beckham didn’t even get a shirt when there is need for a game changing substitution he is your man his crosses and set pieces can win a game in an instance and fair enough if Fabio doesn’t want to start him I would certainly have him on the bench to add a different dimension. Before you say it my reason is solely football not because the fact he is very appealing on the eye!!!

Men’s football isn’t the working class sport it used to be and now the majority of “true” fans cant afford to go and watch their idols play. For a family of four to go and watch the game it would cost well over £100 and can an average family justify paying those prices. When I go to watch my team Everton play I always pay about £30 for a ticket and its either a really boring 0-0 or we get battered and I think what a waste of money and I haven’t got a family to support so I suppose can afford to waste my money a bit more. The plus side to this is women’s football are getting far more supporters from the men’s game who either cant afford to go to the game any more, or as one of the converted female football followers said, “ they are just sick of all the over paid, cheating lack of effort that is sometimes evident in the game”. Maybe our game isn’t as quick or powerful as the men’s but the fans know we will all be giving 100% and we are there for the love of the sport not for the money. So lets hope we keep our fan base growing.
